The Arisen Wheat

by shaun lawton

It was a matter of having stumbled onto
seeing fit that we were ever led to

Become familiar with its overall charm
it's really a long extended history

Of twisted associations leading back
in a procession to a time when friends

Made rituals count and the forces which
guided us were ushered from beyond

In order to make amends we face
the hardships that keep cropping up

No land of pretend could compete
with the dream we shaped into our own

The answer to what happened to man lies in finding

a permanent battery long after you need it.

Everything that got lost in the vortex of division

Elements that are woven apart into each other

End up disrupting the overall integration

What is allowed is the cycle of life to renew itself as

Debris from old components found in nature.

Vacuum Dynamics

by     shaun      lawton

silence may be defined
as the left over chill
that falls in the wake
of a calamity. In light
 of past events, I never
could have known what
 quiet sounded like.

Silence is the result
of having one of our
 most precious organs
removed. Neither can
we know what sound
is like, until it's gone.

without any sound to
displace it, the quiet
wouldn't exist. These
questions lie curled up
along the interior rim
of a nautilus shell in
side my skull with
breath held as if for
a pin to drop
